  1. critique Middle Eastern Punk - a script to review and give feedback on

First off? Maybe it's the difference in countries but we wouldn't use the phrase, "HIGH SCHOOLYARD" for a master scene location heading. Just give the high school a NAME and use that... More like this: EXT. ALEXANDER MUSS HIGH SCHOOL - NIGHT I just looked for a high school name in Israel. Use...
  2. action If it can't show on screen, it shouldn't be in your script

Late to the party as usual... Pretty sure we've discussed this before but to reiterate @mlesemann's thoughts... You shouldn't be writing too much (if any) thoughts and emotions. I am NOT a script consultant but I've mentored a lot of screenwriters over the years. To be honest? I don't really...

And that's the TRICK. Nobody talks like Tarantino characters but they DO talk a lot like the rest of us do SOMETIMES. Writing a screenplay -- storytelling -- is HYPER REALISM for lack of a better word. The dialogue is not that normal. It's out of the ordinary... Or should be. But much of it is...

And in fact... As a new or beginning screenwriter, you can almost ALWAYS cut that crap out with one pass of the script. The dialogue will be less formal and feel snappier, giving the reader a faster read. I personally believe, the faster the read, the less the reader will want to put it down.

I'm writing a book AND finishing up a spec... Not to mention being a day trader. Thank God I only sleep every 4 or 5 days. But to answer your question? Haven't really seen anyone talking about screenwriting. I do check every day however.

I also highly recommend using Scrivener, Write it Now, or WriteWay Pro. WriteWay Pro is FREE by the way... Great piece of software but only runs on Windows. The reason I recommend one of these is that they allow you to write in scenes as opposed to writing like say... In a Word or Open Office...

Well... That's what I'm actually DOING these days myself so you're not alone. Hit me up for some tips to do that if you have any trouble. What seems to work for me personally is simply TRANSCRIBING the script over to novel form first. I don't even really call that a first draft... Just a...

You're probably gonna have to end up purchasing them if you can't find them online... Especially WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP. I've known quite a few people looking for that one online -- never found it -- they had to buy it. It's only $20 at ScriptFly.com. Write it off as an educational expense...
