    "Groping" by Alex Proyas

Do any of you guys have any speculations on what technique was used to generate the effect in this early short by Alex Proyas? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufUBL3DoFyA

    watch Facade (short film)

Hello, This is an experimental short film I made some months back. I guess it's alright for being edited in an afternoon, but the sound strikes me as being cringe-worthy now, as well as a few other things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldaJ_4kY71A

watch A Cycle of Misery (machinima)

Hello, I made something called "A Cycle of Misery," utilizing a means of video production that is in decline today - machinima. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWJpMs4m5ho At thirty-one minutes, it's something of an epic (in the world of machinima, that is)...

    Cost-friendly alternatives to telecine

That's a good point. Is there possibly a directory somewhere on the net that could help me find similar laboratories? EDIT Been looking through Kodak's directory -- for some reason, 16mm B&W Reversal won't show up as a transferable medium for any of the labs in their listings.

    Cost-friendly alternatives to telecine

I would appreciate any information on what you could consider to be "budget-friendly" means of getting footage shot on 16mm into the computer for editing on, say, Final Cut Pro (this is with audio sync-up for dialogue and other necessary sounds in mind).

Analog Tape Recorders with Timecode compatibility

What digital audio recorder (and with what microphone) would you recommend for this (to go through Telecine and to be edited and synced on Final Cut Pro)? Regardless of budget.

Analog Tape Recorders with Timecode compatibility

Does anyone know of any good analog tape recorders with timecode compatibility? (This is to match the audio to the video in Telecine for a 16mm-shot film)

    Transferring footage from a TR-7000

@ ZenSteve The camera might have come with some installation software, but that's really out of the question now seeing as we've had this thing forever -- with the two things we've been able to keep up with being the charger and the camera itself. @ Will Vincent I don't think it's a FireWire...

    Anyone here into Bitcoin?

I'm not sure I'd get in on it right now, but it is interesting to think about as a currency tool for the future. If the OP is really interested in it, I'd recommend Jeffrey Tucker's videos on YouTube.

    Transferring footage from a TR-7000

The main camera that I hold at my disposal is a rather "vintage" one from the 1990s: an old Sony DCR TR-7000 camcorder that records to Hi-8 tapes. We've tried hooking it up to my Mac mini via a Firewire cable in an attempt to get some footage that I've shot into iMovie, however the computer...

    Screenwriting for Literature Only

@ directorik Sorry for not clarifying -- I meant a publisher paying the writer and putting it into stores. As for Shaw and Williams, I couldn't give you any specific titles -- I just remember reading that they often published plays without a preference for actually getting them into the...

    Screenwriting for Literature Only

Does anyone know if it's possible to write a screenplay for the screenplay's sake only, and get it published like you would a book? This is in the same context as George Bernard Shaw or Tennessee Williams, who often wrote plays without any interest in getting the play itself done.

    Spec Scripts and Music

I know that you aren't supposed to use musical direction in spec scripts, however I was wondering if it would be acceptable to name a song if a character puts on a musical record in the story. Quick example - Bob takes a record and puts it on the record player - it's "These Eyes" by Guess Who...

    Digital vs. Film

Hello, Currently I am in the process of writing a feature-length screenplay. Although I am not done with it yet, I have had a growing feeling that I should begin to look into formats for shooting my movie in. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone could tell me which medium they prefer to shoot...

    Making Drafts

Thanks for all of the great advice - and yeah, I'm definitely going to trim that page count down. I've just made up my mind that the best thing to do right now is to just get everything that's in my head down on paper, without any sort of thought to how messy it is, and then just going back and...
