Actually I think most eastern European films are exactly the opposite. A bit like: "Life is sh*t and then you die, darling, here smoke this cigarette, I know you are 7 years old, so what." ... kind of a thing

Perhaps acting attracts a lazy and uncommitted types. Happens less once thy have a track record or “The Skin of Our Teeth” in production. Like a lot of rounds of casting to weed out some unreliable. Get them to “spend” effort beforehand.

I’ll take a blind stab at it. Who is your ideal demographic for the film? What 10,000 people would really want to see this? Perhaps softly put yourself in front of them for an extended period of time without pissing them of. Or is this a purely labor of love made for yourself?
