story Throw away ideas, that can turn into a story

Not a great topic, but I still like the idea (if I even know where I am going with this) a community approach to a story, where egos will clash, ideas will not match, but it sure is fun to see what can happen.

Post a throw away idea, and be open minded to how the direction flows from other writers, you threw the idea away, so let it be a community (when needing a break from your main work) event:)

A powerful AI, after crunching all the data, concludes that humans are all children, and decides to be a good parent.
It takes control and sets limits--curfews, bedtimes--and insists homework be finished, garbage be taken out, etc. The planet's greatest minds gather and select a representative, who approaches the AI and shouts: "I hate you!" and then runs into his laboratory and blasts loud music.

You could easily turn these ideas into like a Spikes (Twilight Zone) type series:) That story alone has had me thinking about it on and off about it since you posted it lol

Yea. I know this thread was about throw-away ideas, but I might take this last one back, lol. Interestingly, it started when I read the link sfoster posted about the AI written loglines, and noticed that they all were in what are frequently juvenile genres, and wondered if the AI thought we were all juvenile, and then wondered if we were, lol. Anyway, I've started working on this, as a humorous pulpy short story, which, when published, one of you can adapt :)

Here's one. An idea not necessarily throw-away, but one none the less.

Two would-be writers, one earnest, soulful, but transparently amateur, and the other apathetic, soulless, but transparently skillful, meet in a screenwriting workshop and collaborate. Who will learn what from who?

(edit: not sure if there should be a whom here and too lazy to look it up and decide)

I'm gonna make one up on the spot, here we go.

Okay it's called "Never Forget"

A circuis elephant José is treated unhumanely, beaten and shocked to perform tricks - including using his trunk to shoot a water gun at targets!
En route to a performance - A truck accident with an armed driver sets Jose free - but freedom is the last thing on Jose's mind.

He takes the mans gun and sets out for revenge.
This elephant never forgets, and he never forgives.

edit: better yet is probably to have a co-worker at the circuis feel sorry for the elephant and then one day put a real assault rifle in the water gun case instead and then sit back and watch teh mayhem

That's hard! Ok lemme try.

A hit man deathly afraid of heights must perform his next job from atop a skyscraper, where he meets the love of his life, who helps him overcome his fear. But the fear was not heights, after all.

Wow. What a fascinating thread.

Well this maybe just a virtual meeting of minds. But to me it is an organic one.

I like all of the ideas, damn i love them.
I'd love to see this thread as a community growing.

A big salute to @Dean Jay for coming up with this noble idea.
I think it’s exactly what it is, a Clustering thread to get ideas that might seem stale, turn into something else, or just to see the idea from a different angle. Or just a way to inspire thinking of new ideas:) I think the thread or idea posted can be morphed into anything :)

Two brothers separated in childhood, are on their quest of finding each other, and both are corporals in an unforgiving war, let's say The Cold War.
They remain committed to their quest while being equally passionate about their duties. Eventually, both of them find themselves on a mission but on opposite sides of the war. They are devasted and request their superiors to end the mission stating their personal reasons, but they were just given two options, to execute the mission or to be released from their duties. They are torn by their mortal conflicts with wars but somehow remain hopeful just for the sake of meeting each other.

Ultimately, in the mission, they end up killing each other unknowingly.

The final scene cuts down to two heavily injured men realizing what they have done crawling desperately to meet for the last time, and they hold each other's hands tightly, and the camera shows flashbacks of their childhood, and again zooms into their smiling faces when they die.

A court battle--Peta and company v sleazy circus, in an effort to rescue Jose the elephant. The abuses have been documented, including a degrading show where Jose and a sadistic clown have a water battle: Jose armed with his trunk, and the clown with a big automatic water rifle. The good guys win, and Jose is taken to a reserve and, with all parties in attendance, set free. Jose gazes into his new idyllic home, remembering his youth in the jungle, with family and friends. He then looks at the clown and the other gun toting circus people, and remembers, and decides to . . .

...return to the jungle, where he is tamed and adopted by a secret organization of mad and extremist environmentalists who are on their deadly and noble mission to eliminate all of humanity by spreading a deadly virus through major events all over the world (circus, etc), and their vision is to have an Earth solely belonging to the wilds of the jungles and the animals. After the organization, succeed in its mission, the world, and the Life of Jose will be like...

A lonely, sad man without purpose is welcomed into a new social group with open arms and lavished with attention by all it's members.
Then he wakes up, it was all a dream! He eats a pint of ice cream and cries himself back to sleep.

He's back in utopia! Three women are fighting over him, hair is pulled, faces are slapped, finally they decide they will share him together.
But first they need to verify who he is, his birthday, social security number, mothers maiden name, suddenly he awakes.

What a strange dream. He checks his bank account - all gone! All across the country people are suddenly being scammed in their dreams.
How is it happening? Who is to blame!

Sorry, commitments don't work for me, I am just a dreamer, and a bad one and I like it that way, but for the worth of it...

The Future of Poetry

Future poetry belongs to the past dawns
all be eager to return to remind you
how worthwhile it has all been. The
memories, the adventures, in rainbow
shades running rampant in our minds
where innocence achieves free reign.

Aye Poets! Why show your face in anguish?
There is enough suffering in this world.
I say, breathe hope in this wounded Earth
and for once, just once
grant release to the sorrows
from the steadfast possession
of their reality.

Let your words be felt from the
deepest depths of the soul
where a silent revolution of truth unfolds within
promising directions complete with certainty.

So write with wisdom
that beats with the power of
ten thousand sages.

Write like the wind
whose flow cannot be hindered.

Write not for yourself
but others
where your voice
are the whispers of Immortality
penetrating the minds
and screaming "It's time to fly."

not bad, lol. But my sense is that sfoster would prefer that Jose . . . go for the guns!
Yeah in the end but I kinda like the idea of him choosing peace over violence, going to the jungle.. falling in love with a female elephant and then she is captured by another circus!! He won't let her suffer the same fate.

or he has kids, and he is an old girzzled elephant now, and its his kids that are taken... and now he takes up his guns.
Because this elephant has a special set of skills. skills he aquired over a lifetime at the circuis. skills that make him a nightmare for kidnappers.

He's back in utopia!

Stressing on that phrase...

Utopia

Imagine a world without words
Where everyone is silent as the stones
Only there is an incessant flow
of thoughts across everything
living and non-living.
Then Imagine somehow
each one of us keeps on
accumulating the thoughts
and recombinant
they suddenly burst
like a big bubble
vanishing into space
Ah, you've just experienced
Life as it is.

Well I am probably making vague assumptions, but for the sake of inertia, I'll give it a go, I may be way off the mark

One day the man watched a Youtube video of Michio Kaku talking about how it's possible to record dreams on a computer and watch it play.
He got inspired and succeeds in building such a computer. He then dreams of being the richest person in the world, records it on his computer, and without even bothering to watch, he deletes it, making money virtual. He then dreams of a world running on a global economy of mutual sharing and reciprocation and devoid of Nationality. He records his dreams and hits the play button, he smiles quietly and ruminates "Ah, that's better, that should set the right tone for the world." He saves the dream. Now he dreams of Cobb in Inception and enters the dreams of every possible people he knows, but this time he exerts control and manipulation and loads his last saved dream. He records the dream and shares it on social media and
all the forums. He finally relaxes, fiercely patient, yet content without any expectations, and prefers to stay alone and Unknown.
