I get it though, the camera couldn't rack focus, i didnt have a dolly or steadicam, i didn't own a single film light.
Maybe I should be marketing it as a Comedy Thriller like game night with jason bateman.
I considered paying facebook to advertise but they wouldnt let me target people that liked game night. 70k of them.
I LOVE Game Night! Yes, I think comedy/thriller is appropriate.
I'm all about the story - you entertained me and kept the pacing tight.
BTW, don't forget to put it on IMDb - credits are important to actors.

Yes crime thriller is a rare genre and game night nailed it. Well you’re my target demographic if you loved that film lol that’s the one Facebook market I tried to pay for.
charade is also a comedy thriller. One of my favorite films of all time. stars Audrey Hepburn and Cary grant

Given the video analytics I have to consider this film a failure.
My first movie from 6 years ago had 2x the audience retention rate lol.
Didnt have 130 views more like 40
And pretty much the only feedback I hear is about the funny scenes, which most people never even make it that far in the film to see the funny parts. also feel like I wasted a bunch of time thinking about the sound design, to do something cool right there in everyones face that nobody notices.
I rebranded this to directors cut and uploaded a new version with the first two and a half minutes cut out. sad.

Watched it... Enjoyed it. Definitely a dark comedy crime thriller which I personally like too. Plus? This kind of crazy shit does actually happen when newbies or amateurs try to pull stuff like this off so it definitely has the realistic edge to it too. I can say that because both my parents were ex-cons and after my Dad got out? We had plenty of newly released ex-cons stay at our house over the years. Some were extremely intelligent while some were downright stupid as hell.

I don't think anyone has noticed the sound design so I will explain it here.
After the kidnapping when the protagonist wants to back out of the plan
When he wants to go in reverse and back up
Listen to whats happening lol
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
Its a god damn truck backing up beeping sound!! mixed right in everyones face
and nobody notices.

I heard it but EXPECTED to hear it.
I would have noticed if it weren't there - that would have been a failure of sound design, and what people DO notice.
I'm not sure what you mean by that. everyone else just thinks it was part of the music track.
why did you expect to hear a loud high pitched beep playing over the music?

As mara says it's not supposed to stick out. If it did that would be bad. So no, sound design is not overrated. Did you really want people asking wtf the beeping is? Or did you want to add it so we don't notice but our subconscious is relating to backing up? So it worked. That does not = overrated. The sounds guys are going to get pissed at you again.

I spent at least a week thinking about sound design trying to add some creative flair to the project.
Idk if "we didn't notice it" = "it worked"
did it really add anything? maybe its just bad sound design
