Glad to be a member of Indie Talk.

I am a musician, agent and A&R director for film composers in Los Angeles. I work closely with the filmmaking industry and specialize in streamlining productions for digital release.

The explosion in ad revenue generated by video streaming platforms means that there is more money available for independent creators than ever, both in film and music. Navigating that process and maximizing returns is the part of filmmaking that is lost on many an that is what I work hard to correct.

On my off time I am out and about with my wife and kids or playing the saxophone. :)

Looking forward to the forum.

I don't know about most but yes, many of the big ones are. But, paid content is paid content, whether the channel earns money from advertisers or membership fees there is revenue in the coffers for the content creators. The membership platforms most often generate more revenue from the subscriptions. If they didn't they would be running ads. :)

In the end, however, YouTube is the largest platform for content distribution in the world and that is ad revenue based.

Yup. I'm especially tuned in to this at the moment because TubiTV just added my movie DETOURS. They have 15,000 movies, and as of Sept 2019 they say they've streamed 132 million hours of content. A friend in the industry says they're gunning for Netflix. I'm not saying they'll succeed, but their model is free and ad-supported.
