archived-videos "The Hot Rod" Trailer\Preview

Not sure what the story is but it looks real interesting from that trailer. I read the short description from the youtube video. The girl has to drive the muscle car because he husband took her car and left town. I guess from the description that she gets paranoid on what the husband is doing and goes looking for him in the muscle car. Just a guess. Anyways, it looks like a interesting film. The actors looks fit perfect for this from what I can tell. The Wife is pretty hot too. Maybe the guy is cheating on the wife and she will get even.

Mussonman, before I tell you, would you mind taking a guess from just the trailer?

I don't want to be judged, as I am merely judging from the trailer, but it seems as though it takes place in the south.... possibly, multiple settings, because it also seems to invite some sort of a road trip. It does seem as if the woman is searching for someone, at least in a few shots. if it does contain a road trip, then i would have to agree with rockstar, that she may be searching for a cheating husband (or fleeing from an abusive one, judging on the shots with the child... she and her daughter may be abandoning him and taking his prized possession.)

I don't know, but for the record, i must say that I hate 99.99% of all movie trailers, but this one actually subjugated me into inquiring more information on it, because it captured my attention very well.

so good job!

Good Job Wheat! I read the description and I cant wait until it comes out. Did you Direct this? Also what was your budget for this bad boy?

Co-directed\assisted. DP, Producer, co-writer and all post.
Budget $1200 (actors, band, hair\MUA etc)

Wow your very involved thats great! Also I's intrigued haha I spent over $3000 on this 30m short film for my Local T.V station that lets me produce stuff. I only intended to spend $850 but...... I did a poor job budgeting because when I tried to get funding I made it seem like I only needed a little bit. BIG MISTAKE as Over $2000 came out of my pocket because I got all the $850 but needed way more stuff lol. I'm not paying my actors but I am dealing with 60-300 extras for one shoot so thats were a lot of the money goes.. And a LOT of memory cards / DSLR batteries.. But anyway cant wait to see how this goes!

mussonman,
The Hot Rod will be out fall this year, October or November.
I loved your guess, does'nt matter how close you were and I certainly found your comments helpful.

The films is shot and set in Northwest Oregon, but it is "country" and rural so your comment that it seems like its in the south (which most people think of as "country" in the states) is pretty good indicator that I got the "country" thing covered.

Multiple settings, but all within a few miles of each other (in the story) but there is some "road tripiage" as the female lead drives to a few locations. So again, good feedback letting me know that there is a "road" feel to the preview.

Here is a basic plot outline:

Its a short rom-com about a woman living in a small close nit community who wakes up and discovers her husband has taken off in her car and left here to drive the scary hot rod. She has a few challenges driving etc. She thinks poorly of her husband, yet everyone around thinks hes great. She continues to harbor bad feelings as she interacts with the other characters, each of which expose more and more of the TRUE Character of her husband. When we finally meet her husband at the end of the story we realize that he was off doing something good, we get to see the moment of sacrifice and commitment and have a happy feeling from it. (or thats the idea anyway)

Well, based on the cowboy attire i guessed south... i guess i should've said western, oregon being one of those states.

see, i live in ohio, and we have country/rural areas, however nobody dresses in attire like that. i grew up in rural areas of Tennessee, and still saw little cowboy attire... so "south" was the wrong word.

and anyhow, I wanna see it

Looks like a fun movie and you squeezed a lot of production value from very little money.

About the trailer, it seems more of a teaser where you get no idea of the story, just images. and then a trailer comes out with a little more info. But keeping everything mum is fine by me and i wish more movies would do that.

These days, a teaser is like a trailer and a trailer is short version of the whole film. If im really interested in a movie these days, i stay away from the trailers and reviews.

Since you asked someone else, earlier, I will admit that this preview doesn't really tell me what it's about.

On the positive side, though -- I think the cinematography is gorgeous! :)

Just a thought -- with the nostalgic nature of this film, I kinda think higher saturation might be nice. Maybe, maybe not. Just thinking aloud.

Looking forward to seeing it.

That looks really nice, Wheat.

Love the OTS shot of the little girl.
Don't know about the first and last shots.
It looks like you have some really good actors. Congrats on that.

I'm glad you've got your hands on a decent project.

duh.. its about a car a few men one woman and a little girl. There is some talking and a lot of "looking at one another" and some stuff happens.. what more do you need to know.. LOL

That grade is just for the teaser.. final will more conventional.
