Why can you edit some posts, but not others?

Why is it that some posts/threads you created still have the editing option up, while others don't?

Edit: anyone?

It will become uneditable after a certain time period. This allows you plenty of time to edit, but also protects the continuity of the discussion when a significant amount of time has passed.

Just for future reference, is there any way to re-open the editing window on certain posts? I'm assuming mods can help someone with this.

Also, I think the editing policy on Indietalk is great. A lot of forums close the window after 10 minutes, and that can be stressful. It's nice that the admins trust users to not dismember threads. So thanks for that.
