way to load 8mm videotape into computer?

Until I save up some more money, I can't get a mini-dv camera, so right now I'm shooting with an old-school 8mm videocasette camcorder circa 1998. Is there any way to load the content of the 8mm tape on to my computer for editing? I'm thinking some kind of usb connection...

Yeah I think a USB connection is your best bet till you get a mini-dv cam with firewire support.

You can also get a video capture card relatively inexpensively. You'll need a spare PCI slot on your motherboard, though.

If you have a fast enough harddrive, you'll be able to do full resolution captures.

Pinnacle has something like that available.. and as I recall it's fairly cheap.
