Vintage TV Look Advice

Hello to everybody. I have a project and I'll like to achieve something similar to this in terms of aesthetic (00:00 to 00:37): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLw4fcKFTtY
Here's another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLw4fcKFTtY
And here's another:

Basically, I'm looking to achieve the same level of lo-fi quality. The 70's/80's vibe of the image. The worst quality I can get. I would like some advice of what format and camera should I use to get something similar. I thought of Sony PC-7E or a Sony AVC 3260 but I'm not sure of it. They don't seem to be the thing I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance guys!

I haven't seen the videos, but judging from screenshot what you want is to first of all grab a 16mm camera,if thats out of budget grab a super8 camera and you will get pretty close.
Light with fresnels, high key hard light style.
After you record your film, telecine it put it on a dvd and play through a TV (you could try to get an older TV if you aim for total authenticity).
Record of a TV with any digital camera of your choice.

I assume you want to do this digitally (rather than just shooting with retro cameras)?

I was trying to do something similar with an advert I was making a short while ago (but we only had Sony Vegas at our disposal to edit on, so there's probably a better plug-in on FCP or Premiere) and we had real problems getting the footage to look vintage without making it completely unwatchable. Here's what we managed:

That was all shot on the Canon 7D and looks *a bit* more vintage than straight out the camera! But if you want to get that proper TV look, you're going to have to look at 16mm or Super8 I think...

The past is not what you remember.. lol..

the youtube examples are very different from the screen shot. TV came along way between 1970 and 1989.

Church Lady was an SNL skit around 1989 - 1990's... so its on the very end of your "70's \ 80's" look.

The screen shot is from 2001 A space Odyssey and was supposed to be a future video phone, that movie was made in 1968 so again, not even in your stated range of interest...

I think that image is a much more "retro" feeling then the church lady skits, but that probably because I watched SNL live on TV. In contrast I was just a few years old when 2001 came out, and didnt finaly watch it until the mid 90's... so thats looks like OLD 1970's imagery to me too..

For fun Im going to repro that look on some footage I have lyin about..
