editing Uploading issue

Ok heres the problem, we shoot about 1 hour and 10 minutes of footage on 2 minidv tapes, using a sony hdvr camera, we did this to help another filmmaker. We gave his camera man and editor the tapes then got a phone call saying there was a problem with our camera. When they uploaded the footage it would drop a ton of frames and would upload the rest of the video into 1 to 2 sec clips. All of there footage uploaded fine from their camera. I cannot find any information on what would cause this. The camera is fine, we had no issue before this shoot and have done multiple projects since without any problems. Any help as to what might have caused this would be great. Also we are using Sony Vegas 9 and they are using Vegas 8. Thanks

Are they capturing a whole tape, or batch capturing?
I've had this bug before using Vegas 9, but usually just trying it once more solves it. Try leading the tape a few seconds before beginning the capture. Dropped frames is normally a result of the computer, not the camera, in my experience at least. But if it was the same computer for their capture this probably isn't the case. Hmmm...I'll do some more looking around and if I can find anything else to try, I'll post again.

Both them and us have tried capturing the whole tape. We have tried uploading it 3 times on our system and they tried twice on theirs. We will try moving ahead a few secs to see if that works. And we where able to get it to stop droping frames, but it still uploads it into 1 sec clips. Yeah and I have spent the last 6 hours searching the web with no results. Any help would be great.

Yes we did. There was also a setting for it to break the video down into small sections that we took off. We are wondering if maybe its a dirty tape or possibly the tape got wet.

Was the camera you were using the exact same model as your buddies' camera?

I remember having huge issues with Sony cameras with an earlier version of Premiere Pro, that was resolved in an upgraded version. (and your buddies are using an earlier software package)
