True False?

A very profound statement was used as dialogue by a character in an episode of The Outer Limits TV series made during the 1990s and early twenty first century which was "You have to live in an alternate reality to be a good screen writer to create characters and a good story."

TRUE or FALSE?

The episodes when a writer was sent into space as an astronaut and a freak accident made him indestructible and the whole space shuttle exploded as it tried to land and he was the only survivor. An alien from a parallel universe who was also a sole survivor crossed over into our universe and made the astronaut indestructible and ended up becoming one with the writer astronaut. He was writing stuff in a strange language, which led to the discovery of the alien life force living inside of him.

TRUE or FALSE?

Well, some writers (or artists) tend to be a bit weird: consumed as they are by their writing (or art).
Focus can move you away from a 'normal life'.

Whether you think it's true or false will probably depend on your own situation; 'misfit' or not? :P

I do think it's good to be able to look at things from 'a distance' with some 'detachment' to 'analyse' human behaviour. I don't think you need to live in an alternate reality to be a good writer. One can even be a bad writer that way and use the 'alternative reality' as an excuse to be misunderstood. ;)
