Love them. Not the most controllable of sources, but they produce a beautiful quality of light and are very cheap.

Soft flattering light source. Cheap. Hang from C stands or a boom if you want to track someone. I'd avoid Film Riot, they have the knowledge but it's an incredibly annoying video to sit through -- 70% is unfunny humor that couldn't be more forced and also advertisements. Chinese lanterns are so cheap, best just to buy one and play. You can get them from $2.
