T3i Back-Up Battery

T2i, T3i owners (or Canon DSLR owners in general)! Do you guys have a spare battery for your camera? If so, what do you have? I'm trying to look at generic batteries since they are cheap and from what I have heard, pretty decent.

Please share! :)

I've bought a total of six generic batteries online. Five of them will hold a charge. At $4 apiece, couldn't really complain.

Fwiw, I bought them in sets of two, three times, from different vendors. Not one of them matches the Mah or voltage of the original Canon battery, even though all of them were listed as being 100% as good as.

Another possibility to consider is buying the BG-E8 battery grip. You're a filmmaker, and I don't know if filmmakers like those battery/power grips on their DSLRs. Do they fit well with the rigs you use etc?

Well, here's a videographer who's using the 5D power grip with his 5d apparently.

I recently bought a Canon DSLR, and one of the first things I did was to get the power grip. But I wanted the vertical grip with shutter anyway, because I'm into still photography. And I wanted to know I could use common AA batteries if for some reason I found myself with uncharged or dead chargeable batteries.

Looks like the T3i grip sells new at 136 dollars. But you could look around for used ones.

Do you care to share the links?

Also, do they work with the Canon charger? How much video do you think can you shoot before it running out?

Hmmm... I heard of a battery grip named Meiki that runs for about 30-50 bucks. Although I'm not sure if I'll like a battery grip while I shoot video. For photos, sure. That vertical grip would be helpful!

Any thoughts from anyone? Anyone use a battery grip?

Yes, you can plug in the Canon charger. It's nice to have extra chargers, mind you. You can get battery/charger combos, too... I bought this one, too. Wasabi Charger & LP-E8 Batteries

Never really detrmined how long a single charge lasts. All I know is, get that battery grip if you want to do extended timelapse videos.
