Apparently it was the result of a very nasty systemic infection. The infection stemmed from a wound (common to paralyzed people, my guess is it's something like a bed sore.)

In addition to being remembered as a wonderful actor, I hope he'll be remembered as an advocate for spinal injury research.

Mr. Reeves was an exceptional human being and the world is a better place because of him. For that alone he is an inspiration.
 
Heard about last night in a DOD server, ofcourse everyone made jokes and all that because thats what noobs do in DOD/CS.

Sucks, but tahts the cycle of life.

Mr Reeve was an incredible man.

Even before his crippling accident, he was working hard to bring important social and political issues to the table.

He continued doing the same afterwards, and managed an ongoing acting career.

Here here! And you know he had to be a great guy on a personal level, as he was surrounded by many, many people who stuck by him through thick and thin.
