Sports Cameras

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in the forum and any help would be hugely appreciated.

I am trying to find out the name/type of camera used in sports by mobile cameramen. These are some pictures of the type i mean.

Am I right in assuming the design of these camera's enable the camera man to run around following the action but maintain a steady shot? Does anyone know the name for these types of cameras and how they work in order to keep the shot steady?

Thanks for any help

They use a variety of cameras but your assumption is incorrect. They are wearing steadicams + vests, which ultimately help them achieve smooth moving shots. You will want a camera that shoots HD with high frame rates per second (FPS) so you can slow down the footage for some stellar slow-mo.

These cameras are very expensive ($10,000 and above)

One example would be the Sony PMW-320K XDCAM EX HD for around $11,000. A lottt of options.
