Sources For Crowd Funding

Woild anyone here recommend posting on fan sites to try to find people to donate money for crowd funding? I know that we should try asking friends and family.

I'm thinking about sites like fembot central and maybe superwomen mania.

After getting bad news about a pay cut, I have to at least try to crowd fund to help get my short made.

I found bing.com has a big library of public domain images we can use for free in videos and whatever.

Have you not checked the other numerous threads upon this very topic? I assume you haven't, otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned any of the above.

Opinion is in plenty, it would just seem in the twenty-or-so hours since this threads birth, it hasn't been answered.

I'm very active in all of the above discussions.

The success of Crowd Funding relies heavily on the PITCH.

Would we suggest advertising the scheme your project is set to pursue? Yes, ofcourse. As much as you can. But, as it is said many times, have you ever participated in crowd-funding? Have you seen a pitch that intrigued you so much that you delved into your pockets and gave what little cash you had?

What can you offer that will make people part with their cash?

I have. The projects had promise, the pitches were inch-perfect and the reels supplied, offered utter assurance that the material would be fantastic.

I'm not familiar with the two sites you suggested, nor do i favour the Genre that your material resides within. Merely preference, but from a perspective of an "Outsider", i can't offer much on the premise of your material, or the needed direction it would need to gain funding- Other than the obvious, generic points already discussed.

Crowd Funding is tricky, but it sure can work.

Thank you for the input. I agree, the pitch is VERY important. Also knowing where to target the pitch where it is reaching out to people with interest in the proposed production is important too.

I producer who will be auditioning for my production as an actress did 2 successful fund raising projects on Kickstarter. She recommends including family and friends as people to pitch to as well as keep the project on kickstarter constantly updated.

Yeah, I would totally recommend that you go ahead and make your presence felt everywhere. Strategically pick and choose which arenas would be supportive of your project. If you are doing a b-horror, hit all the horror forums with a strong pitch but concise pitch (no body wants to read a page worth of your dreams) and always have anything you put up link back to your crowd-funding site. Also, you'll want to ravage facebook and urge all your family and friends to spread the word for you. Consider visiting blogs, too.

Since I'm at work I can't spend too much time on this post, but I wanted to share just that much with you...I've come to really enjoy indiegogo....actually, I have a page up right now too, the campaign is doing decently so far maybe you can get some pointers from there as well. www.indiegogo.com/the-taking , see what I did! :)

Why the dead silence when it comes to questions on crowd funding? Is everyone else so independently wealthy they don't need to even try crowd funding so you have no opinions?
It's interesting that one possible reason for the silence is everyone
who posts here is so independently wealthy we don't need to even
try crowd funding. Another (and more likely reason) is because - as
Papertwin points out - the topic of crowd funding is discussed a lot
here. I don't think there is anyone posting here who is independently
wealthy.

Woild anyone here recommend posting on fan sites to try to find people to donate money for crowd funding?
I would recommend posting anywhere you think there might be people
with a few dollars to donate. As I'm sure you know from reading the
posts here, even a good pitch doesn't always generate response. Getting
complete strangers to donate their hard earned money is really difficult.
I'm sure you don't donate to fellow filmmakers who post here so it might
help to personalize it - what would entice YOU to donate even $5 to a
complete stranger posting on a message board. If you can answer that,
it could help you choose how to post on fan sites.

Clearly crowd funding works.

Thanks for the tips guys. I want to revise the script one last time to include Technical Singularity. Right now, it talks about ties to Greek and Roman Mythology, Superwomen, science fiction, Frankenstein, and action adventure.

The production is a B-movie of mixed genres of Greek Mythology, Science Fiction, and Action Adventure where it can reach out to a wider audience.

My latest blog here on IndieTalk covers what the fundraiser video will cover so far and how it will be presented. It will have much more images now that I found a jackpot of public domain images of Artemis, Ares, the Temple of Artemis, and Amazons to add around my copyrighted art.

The blog is called I, Creator 2 -- Superwomen Emporium.

I also want to add more detail that worship in Artemis is believed to be older than the conception of the Greek gods and she was adopted into their religion as the daughter of Zeus and Leto and our reimage covers the wider spectrum of Artemis worship. There was a time when she was god to the ancient world. In our version, she is god to Delta Four an ET world. And, her ties to Earth are revealed by three cyborgs from Earth. So, hopefully, all this will generate interest in the production.

Now that I'm home, here is a link for the details: http://www.indietalk.com/blog.php?b=128

The beauty of using public domain is that it is for free and it gives you access to "names people know."
