sony vegas import

I've been using sony vegas pro for a while with videos from my canon hv30, and they always fit. The captured video is something like and m2t file. But recently when I import these types of files it says an error occured, that the file could not be opened. I can watch the clips on their own, but not import to vegas. I have version 9. Anybody can help? sanks
