tv-writing Seeking Writer to co-develop TV Series (HBO Quality)

Seeking screenwriter/partner with the ability to interweave multiple characters in complex situations into a gripping TV series. Must be able to write intelligent dialogue and develop story-lines for HBO quality concept.

Think the complexity, nuances and interconnectedness of The Wire with the intensity and addictive quality of The Shield (complex, deeply flawed characters.)

Writer must have global and political knowledge and willing to do a lot of homework into the banking crisis, knowledge how to shelter and launder money in US banks as well as off-shore accounts, understanding of the legal system, immigration policies, US/Mexico relations and border towns and quickly rip stories from the headlines.

You would be co-collaborator on this project and the lead writer. We will work together on episode summaries/outlines, character arcs and then you write. Together we will shape this and get it to a point where it will be properly pitched or independently produced. Spanish speaking is a plus but not a requirement.

Please send a bio of yourself and in your query letter indicate your awareness of the subjects mentioned, noting education and any published credits (screenplays, teleplays, journalism, blogs, etc) Also please include a writing sample of something representative of the style we are seeking.

I wondered that too.

So basically, it's a "Producer" looking for a writer to knock up his idea... for free?
Writers always get the raw deal: less money, less recognition, creative control taken away when "exec's" have other ideas...

Why is it that if I see a job advertisement for MacDonald's, it reads something like: We have restaurants in XXX countries around the world, or we're an internationally recognised brand..., but so-called "Producers" on forums like this one are clandestine?
Surely, if you're an established Producer with bragging rights, you'd spiel them up front and quite possibly have writers working for free anyway (much to the woe of unions), just for the chance to break in?

I'm not knocking you for trying, but please, honesty is integrity: if you're Bob the Big Executive at HBO's milkman and he said he'd like to see something on paper upon hearing your pitch, then state this; if you're nobody from wherever with ideas of grandeur, then let us know this too.

For what it's worth, the SCRIPT is the blue print of a project for a reason: talent can attach if they like it, money can come for the same reason - or because somebody sees market value in the text! Nobody turns up outside a Producer's home and goes, "Hey, I can get Tom Cruise if you give me money," however, "I have a great screenplay which is pulling in big names for the leads," may get that cash.

Asking for people here to work with you on an "idea" makes you seem like one of those wannabes on Craigslist.
You just have to accept reality for what it is: writers have their own ideas, so unless you're paying up front them to write yours, they'll work on their own stuff and keep full rights.

I would love to do this. Please send me a place where I can send
these things.
