Seeking Help. NYFA?

Hi, I was wondering if NYFA is a good school. And yes i do believe there isn't anything a school can teach you that you can't learn yourself. I'm asking if it's a good place to gain experience, and does it have good networking with the industry itself? or is there others that are better in those fields in the United States?

Any help will be much appreciate. Thank you.

NYFA is a good school. Better for film, then for acting. I've worked on a few senior thesis shot at NYFA...good people in general. Good instructors I've been told. Expensive though...if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks that good to hear. but more expensive as compared to? I'm from Malaysia, which is right next to Singapore, and studying film there is about 146k my currency and NYFA will be 100k, living expenses included.

The best part is, it is in NYC. I don't know the school to well, but if they offer you the resources to make a film, you have NYC as your backyard, and actors/actresses galore.

I just went to their website, to verify that they still had their Los Angeles location going... it appears they've been growing fast, the past couple of years!

14 campuses around the world, now.

good point, thanks. it's still pretty expensive though, so do you guys think doing the 8 week program will be a good idea? or if it will be a waste of money and i might as well do a full year, when i can afford it?

NYFA is great from what I hear.

You might also want to check out the Maine Media Workshops. There is a workstudy program offered there, and you work with industry professionals. I managed courses and lectured there, so I'm a little biased. As always, do your research.
