Have you seen this? I looked for a link to post so you can see it but I couldn’t find one... it’s the one of the animated man. How did they do that? Is that an effect of some kind or is that a true animation? It looks so cool, I’d like to try it...
 
It'a an effect on live-action. I think Earthlink was the first to do this a few years back.

Rotoscoping is basically taking a shot and tracing the lines. Older animated films by Don Bluth used rotoscoping for human characters. Recently it's become a technique used heavily in digital effects, to cut out and unnecessary back ground stuff. If you go to that page I linked to and watch the "DVD Extra: Bob Sabiston's Animation Tutorial" it'll explain it a bit better than I can.
