watch Sandwich - Gangster Film

hey folks, I'm new to this forum, but heard good things about it. I am posting for the first time here so go easy on me. The film is called "Sandwich" and it's the story of an old habits die hard retired gangster who finds that he may not be able to escape the life of crime as much as he would have liked.

As it's a crime film it contains strong language and violence. So if you're offended by this then it might not be your cup of tea. The first act of the film is quite light hearted, but it is important for character development so bear with it for the juicy bits :)

I am from Scotland, the land of Trainspotting and Braveheart so the film is spoken with Scottish accents. So for your pleasure there are two versions of the movie. One is posted to youtube and has closed captioned english subtitles so you have the option of turning them on if the accents are a bit thick. The other is on vimeo, which has no subtitle options. I only intended to upload to youtube, but heard vimeo is more professional so made two options. But I feel the youtube one has been more popular and as it's got subtitles it helps.

What are your thoughts and opinions on the film?

I loved it. Please make more. Tell us about your experience with filming it? And yeah, how long have you been doing it? How many other films do you have? Share everything.

I shared it on facebook too btw :)

Very well executed, though I had to turn it off when the scissors appeared. (lightweight )

Watched the Vimeo with no subtitles. Some spoken dialogue was hard to make out, but the action translated well enough and carried the message through.

Well crafted.

Cheers guys. I have been making films since 2005. Sandwich was my third short film. it was shot in Nov 2006/early 2007. I had it a graded and rough sound mix version finished by 2008. And I finally regarded and added in some polishing touches to the film. For example there were some bits of foley and sound effects missing that I filled in the holes with. For example, the fingers being broken didn't have a sound effect before. I also had to regrade the kitchen sequence. it's still not great, but better than it used to be.

The reason I took so long with getting it out there is I choose to leave Sandwich behind to work on a TV Pilot. Part of me is Glad because I learned some things about colour correction and I was able to go back and make the kitchen scene much better looking. I used to be embarrassed by it.

Insert Cliche here - I have a more films I can share if youse want? Sandwich was developed into a TV drama series called The Crews. The trailer of which you can see here:

Woh. What everyone else said. Great film. And your lead...he's excellant...great casting. There's a lot of character in his face alone...and his body language, well, his acting. He's believable as a kindly uncle and as a brutal thug. In any case, glad you joined Indie Talk and are sharing your fims. :)

I really enjoyed this short. Doing a gangster movie can't be easy to do, and I could feel the danger in your lead character. Not a person to mess with but a great lad to have on your side. Great Job!!
