Sandbags on Ebay good find?

Hi all,
I never seem to get to the DIY sandbags, but Iv needed them too much recently to put off.

This seems like a good deal, I fell for it anyway, thought someone else might like it..

Ill let everyone know then.. any tips on filling sand bags? I made my own shooting bags (for gun support) and they got a bit "funky" after a while..

Good excuse to come down to the beach. Beach sand tends to be drier than construction sand. Forestalls funkiness.

Play sand - the kind you put in your three-year-olds sand box - should do just fine, about $3.50 a bag at Home Depot; nice and dry and very clean. Beach sand will have all kinds of crap in it...


BTW, I'm sure that the advertiser just screwed up the ad, but the ad reads that the bags are 21 feet x 10.5 feet. I'm sure that they mean inches, otherwise they'd weigh a half ton each.

What's not to get about a DIY sandbag? I suppose you could buy them but I never spend money on that kind of stuff.

I took a bunch of old ratty duffle bags and filled them with books or rocks, usually does the trick.

DIY sandbags is so.. uncool.. lol I mean, DIY boom, or DIY dolly, thats cool... but sandbags.. yawn... lol..

I've seen ones similar to that in the pile with a few folks gear. They seem to hold up fine, but have a slightly more elongated shape than the common sandbags. Doesn't seem to hamper them though.

x2 on play sand. The beach might be clean and free of human filth, but critters still reside there - teeny tiny ones at that.
