renting equipment

hi does anyone know good places in california to rent equipment? im gonna be shooting shortly after returning to california and i need to do some shopping around to look at prices money isnt really an issue at this point i have a few thousand that i wanna devote to this project so i think renting would be the best thing considering i want the best look possible. also wat camera should i get for say shooting people in "conversation" and "close ups" and for action scenes?

As I have said before, if I thought I could make money I'd shoot one in a second. It just doesn't seem to me the profit potential is there as it used to be.

For several years I made extra cash by shooting porn. There was a
time when a shooter could get $500 to $850 per day. When I would
buy a new camera I would shoot enough days to pay for it - usually
within a month. Today I'm offered gigs at $100. Maybe. I can't say
in the public forum what I am usually offered these days...

We all hear about the internet killing music sales - all the free
sites have killed the profitability of porn.

well yeah thats what im gonna do shoot a basic one now to get some trigger time on the whole directing end and again in a few months im going to be making a bigger budget parody porn with alot more elements but i think im good uve given me all i need

Porn does not help you as a director. Most of the skills you need
to learn as a director are not used when shooting porn. I’m not
saying you shouldn’t make one - just don’t go into it thinking you
will learn anything about directing a movie. You want to get some
trigger time on the whole directing end make five short films or
music videos.

all i need now i need to go out and cast my actors. its kinda hard finding agencies tho.

Then you aren't looking. Agencies here in LA are all over the place.

im trying to get into porn and make enough money to make more thats all i want i dont want to be all super rich and famous i just want to make it for fun ah know? so as such most of the things ill be directing and producing will be porn (maybe a little indie title thrown in here and there) but for the most part porn.i realize its not as profitable thanks largely to free online sites and pirates but it will never truly die porn is 1 thing that i think will last forever just gotta find your niche and im lookin.

i told you im not in the states right now im in iraq when i get home im going to square all that away and then commence shooting ill definitely tell you when everything is set up though.
