Realities of Editing Work in the Adult Industry?

I was curious to know about how film editors would get work in this industry, and whether it's through a very specific process or if it's similar to how film editors get work in the mainstream film industry?

What I've watched over the years is a huge decline in the production value of adult films. I'd say nowadays, the majority of what you see on the Net is a dude holding his own camera. In some cases they have a separate camera op, who typically sucks.

Anyways, there is definitely some good material out there so there are truly legit prod companies making vids, but I'd say you'd have to live in LA, have an agent and be willing to destroy your career outside of adult films.

A few friends of mine have spent some time working in the adult industry. One was on-set as a 2nd AC, the other worked in post.

From what I can tell, you have to be a certain type of person to do such work, and neither of them lasted very lengthy amounts of time.

The girl who worked in post was employed on staff full-time at an 'adult' post-house.

The bigger/more professional production companies seem to hire just like any other production company, though the simple fact that they're an adult film company may mean there's less competition... I don't really know.

Mate of mine works at a mainstream post house. This is a big one but apparently they do some kind of adult stuff in there as well. There's even a team that focuses on this.

Will have to ask him how to get a job in the adult team but will try to explain it's not for me!

Seems like the Internet killed the industry. Porn is free on the internet. So how much have the budgets shrunk? I'm curious what's the going rate for these on-screen porn star chicks? Back the late 90's I know they'd pay a chick $1,000 per shoot. The dude would get $100. LOL
