Real D and expanding into real space

im gunna lock this as im not getting any feedback for ideas. sorry guys :(

i would just like to point out that i put this under the newbie section rather than the post prod section or techniques section because its a very broad subject matter. having been buried in physics books for the past few weeks i picked up alot of the theory but if anyone has experience shooting in stereoscopic circular polarisation and transposing it onto a silver screen then i would greatly appreciate it. thanks again :P

no no its nothing like that, the more information i can gather the further i can take this. ive already had interest in developing the first physical platform, not too far from the starwars holograms, to display 3d films on. expanding on that the next step is to remove the glasses entirely :)

You're WAY smarter than me.

I'm a filmmaker - I can write a script, I can direct, I can
even light and shoot a scene and edit them together.
What I could never do is help you with the physics of
stereoscopic circular polarization or help you with pi-cells
and wire grid polarizers. I don't even understand what
stereoscopic circular polarization is or what Z screen
modulators are.

I'm wondering if a physics forum isn't the better place
to ask about these things.

But anyway, welcome to indietalk!

This is really interesting to me.

For a while I've been stressing that 3D can never fully succeed whilst people still need to wear the glasses, but I wasn't sure how possible the scientific potential for removing them was. Obviously the subtleties of the system would have to be ironed out and the price would have to fall dramatically (one would assume), but this seems to me to be good news for 3D.

Anyhow welcome as well!

well nick, im a 2nd year. i proposed this notion last year and was laughed out the building. having displayed the correct RnD and the technical skill they finally listened and are giving me space to develop. i am submitting for a grant soon, but i need to compile an extensive portfolio on the mechanics and implications of what im trying to acheive (which im very close to doing :P )

That sounds really good. Are you in the US or UK (apologies to all other countries)?

I'm just surprised that you've amassed 400 films at your age (I'm younger ;) ) especially more than one feature! You must work hard...

this is an old thread but if your still looking for ideas/help i have a lot of skill around setting up 3D systems. even glasses free tests ( they still are not as good as having glasses).
there are many ways with different advantages. circular and linear polarization, anaglyph, multi-spectral systems and shutter glasses. ask me!
