archived-videos Post-apocalyptic short film "The Reach"

Hey everybody!

Recently I directed / scored / sound designed a film called "The Reach", which participated in the "Uneton 48" - film competition, where you have to write, shoot and finish a film in 48 hours by the specifications given. It was nominated for best cinematography and best sound design / music.

Take a look at it on Youtube! It's in Finnish language, but with English subtitles.

You can listen to the score in Michael Law Music ("Loppuun palaneet" is the film's name in Finnish):

Tell me what you think!
Cheers!

Underlit, imo, but even so - that was a very enjoyable viewing experience.

Reminded me of On The Beach and the adaptation of Bradbury's All Summer In A Day.

How'd it do in the showings? One of the better 48's I've seen.

Thanks Zensteve! I think Youtube darkened it a notch, we were wondering the same thing, didn't look so dark, when watched directly from the file.
It did pretty well in the showings, didn't win, but, as said, was nominated for best cinematography and sound design / music. So we're happy for what we accomplished :)

This was really good, excellent example of a small budget script filmed accordingly, knew what you could accomplish and did that really well rather than over-reaching and falling short

Good stuff, well done
