watch PILOT FOR NEW WEB SERIES

Hey guys, myself and my friend wanted to make a short action video mainly to test lighting, but while editing we started developing new ideas that added depth to the character and story that could be explored through future episodes. We want to see if people would be interested in seeing more first, so have decided if this pilot gets over 100 likes on youtube we will make more! (obviously of a higher standard as this was written on friday and shot on saturday haha)

So if you enjoy it please like and share. Any feedback welcome!

It looked pretty, but the plot was stock, the main character was pretty one-dimensional, and the dialogue was very on the nose.

IMHO, finding an audience for a lo/no budget ALL SERIOUS DRAMA film or webseries is going to be a tough sell.

Largely, the execution in this pilot is fine, it's just going to be a tough market to round up.

Not to rain on your parade, but you're competing with the likes of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBftzMxDtIg
Without the budget.
Without the humor.
Without the fan base.

You have a real uphill slog ahead.

Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks for the feedback guys, The reason there wasnt a lot to the character is because this was only intended to be a short video to test some lighting stuff. But we started developing new ideas as we went along, There would be a lot more explored in future episodes if we did make them.

and I understand what sort of stuff is out there. Sync was a good series. But we are not trying to compete with them. We just wanna make the things we enjoy and hope a few people watch them, Our videos tend to get around 10,000 views, and we are happy with that, we are not expecting millions :) ... not yet anyway ;)

This one looked great, but... IDK what happened to the series or creator.

He/they popped in here a few times, then... poof!

Here's another fairly well produced series struggling by:

IDK what happened to these guys either despite some more impressive production.

A web series is a tough commercial gig.
It'll be great experience though.

In that case, the lighting stuff was good.

We want to see if people would be interested in seeing more first,
Based on what you have shown us; no, I wouldn't be interested in
seeing more for the reasons already mentioned.

I think you will see people are not as interested in seeing good
lighting stuff as watching an interesting characters in a compelling
story. When you have those things I'll give it another look.

Agree.

Hey man this looked really good. The lights looked really cool, i gotta get some of my own. I thought the only time it wasnt necessary was the first shot of the character outside of his apartment. It didnt seem to match the light from the background. Other than that the light really added some suspense and grit. The bluish light brought out some emotions of fear. Great stuff looked great!

Quick question how did you do the gun effects? Would this be something I could teach myself how to do or do you need a serious budget etc?
