Optoma may make some fine projectors...

...but the company they've contracted to repair their projectors sure sucks donkey-nads. :(

They've had my projector in the repair shop since the middle of August, and to be honest... I have no idea when I'm getting it back. Can't leave voice-mails (agent's voice-mail is always full), and e-mail replies are sporadic. (I'm still waiting on a reply from an enquiry I sent last Wednesday). I'm pretty sure my agent there only works one day a fortnight, judging from activity.

On top of making me jump through hoops for the privilege of paying them (wouldn't let me divvy the repair bill over two cards.), and then trying to ram through a charge higher than the estimate (without clearing it with me - heck, even a random local car mechanic knows better!), the TSC just seem unable to call me (yes, they have my number) or tell me what's up. I'd learn smoke-signal technology, if I thought that would help communications between us.

Now, don't get me wrong. I do love my Optoma projectors - this is the first one I've needed to send in for repairs, and the other still runs perfectly. They perform wonderfully, and I am very satisfied when they are doing their job... and when a rare instance arises when one needs to be repaired, it is only logical to look into repairing one before replacing one. With the repair bill being only half of the replacement cost, it's worth repairing at least once.

With that in mind, though, I'll be doing some extra research when I'm buying the next projectors. I'll be looking up repair reports for whichever brand I'm considering, before I buy them. 'Cos if it's more cost-effective to repair once (before replacing) I sure as heck want the repairs to be done properly and in a timely fashion. It's pushing 6 weeks right now, and I have no idea what's going on.

This post is not meant as a rant (though I am quite miffed, tbh) - rather an opportunity to remind people that (relatively) big-ticket items need to be considered from all angles, before deciding on the purchase.

:)

Mad as hell right now.

42 days (and almost $500) later I have my projector back - and it still has exactly the same problems that I sent it in for!

Bunch of friggin ass-clowns. :bang:

Last Optoma product... ever.

PHUK those MUTHERPHUKERS!!! .....but for real I will never send any of my equipment to Optomas' equipment repair people. Furthermore I will never by Optomas equipment because of their lack of customer service. PERIOD!!!!.....and you can quote me.
