Opinion on my idea

I recently had an idea for a feature film which I would not be ready for filming but could do like a prequel kind of thing for it. So the title would be"The Day The Internet Shut Down" It would be about a group of computer "geeks" who set out to save the internet. It would be comedy/action. They would encounter many problems do to the fact the sit inside all day and play games and are rather unfit. I have not planned the entire thing but do you think this is an interesting idea? Suggestions would be great!

Could be funny. Maybe the fact that they play games all day should be used though. Perhaps each of the problems they encounter has a solution that is modelled after a specific game and their expertise in that game allows them to more easily overcome it. One of them always sucks at a particular game and they have to be the ones to finish the final puzzle.

As previous poster, it does smack of the South Park 'World of Warcrack' episode.

What do your computer geeks save the internet from? It's not an idea yet, just half an idea from what you tell us; which isn't to say you haven't had a great idea - but you haven't shared that; saving the internet is just too vague.

Tell us what they save it from, who they are, how they do it......that gives us more scope to comment on.

I guess I'll have to check out that South Park episode so I don't have to worry about getting complaints of copying. yeah I've got a couple of things for what is making the internet go down yet, but its still a base of an idea which for me, is pretty far in the process. After I posted this I have a couple more ideas that I'm already writing a script for. But yes those are things I will have to think of.

Literally the internet goes down, no one knows how to look up why because they can't use the internet for it. And they're like.. oh I hear there is still a little internet out there in california! and they make a big road trip out of it

anyway it's all ridiculous, you can definitely use your idea and have it seem original. like you said it would be a good to watch the episode and avoid making the same jokes, etc. like how you can't masturbate anymore without really freaky online porn

It hasn't sold me yet. It's an idea. It has potential to be an interesting idea, but for it to be a good movie, it has to be a good story that we'd want to see. A good story/movie comes down to its execution.

Yes, it has potential. Yes, it needs work to get to the point where most people would want to see it.
