online copyright registration

Can't recall if I posted this before, but here is a useful link for registering screenplays online with the US Library of Congress Copyright Office. $35 compared $45 if done using paper. I just registered five short film screenplays as a collective work, costs me just $35; protection well worth it. (I just put the five scripts into a single rich text file and called it "Five Short Film Screenplays".

I decided to go this route over WGA's $15 fee, because WGA only covers you for 5 years, then you have to remember to pay again, etc. I will sleep better with my material in the Copyright Office database.

It's good you got your material copyrighted. WGA actually doesn't offer you any legal protection -- if a dispute arises and you find yourself in court, material registered at the copyright office is what will matter. Registering with the WGA is about the same as calling me into court and having me say, "Yeah, he totally wrote that. I was there."
