lighting On-camera ring light

Watching the "Making of" of various music videos I noticed these kind of on-camera ring lights multiple times.

I was wondering how these type of lights are called, as it seems a nice solution for some purposes?

ps. Pardon me if my English isn't that well: I'm Dutch. :)
