editing Odd Premiere Pro issue

Hi there,

I'm animating some text in Adobe Premier pro. Just doing a simple typing animation, as the text moves subtely down (and then rapidly flies off the screen when the message is sent). Never had a problem doing this, and have used it earlier in my timeline. but for some reason, doing it to a new title, it animates up 10 pixels before going down - even though I have no keyframes set to do this... It's hard to explain so here is a video of what It looks like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2BYVCZkv6c&feature=youtu.be

Note how it moves up subtly before slowly going down? (It should only be doing the slowly going down part)

Any suggestions as to why this is happening/how to fix it? thanks!

I don't really notice it, in this clip, without a fixed guideline in place.

As far as fixing it... use the Keyframe Navigator arrows to check each point you've set a parameter at.

Without looking at your Effects window, I'd guess that you've set an initial point at some point past the start of the clip... without setting the actual first frame properly. If this is the case, you should be able to go to the first Position keyframe for the overlay clip and start going backwards frame by frame and seeing the position numbers change as you go (because the first keframe you've set is not the actual initial position)

Make sense? :)

Of course... that's just my 1:30am hunch, without looking at your actual project. :bag:

Ah nope doesn't appear to be, but thanks for the suggestion. Here's a screepcap of the edit.

I arrowed across to where the clip stops animating going up (it has the height at 290.6, which is weird) - the first key frame is height 300, then the next is 350. So it currently goes: First keyframe (300), where the screen is paused (290.6), second keyframe (350).

I guess it's not that obvious, but it's offputting enough for me to be frustrating!

Hopefully the red lines on this video make it easier?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DXy1pcgbhI&feature=youtu.be It is quite hard to see I guess, but easier in full screen - hopefully it illustrates the point

Try right clicking on a keyframe, and then under 'interpolation,' choose 'linear'

do it over.
I had tried this, I presumed something had gone maybe just glitched out, but apparently not

Thank you! It works now. I think I encourntered this issue, as I am self taught by way of trial and error (with little understanding of what a lot of terminology means or how things work at a fundamental level). I think I'll start watching some online tutorials or something though

Most of us are self taught. The first time I encountered this issue, I was going to shave my head, I was so afraid I was going to pull all of my hair out.

Best,
