Newsletters are SPAM?

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. We've currently decided to self-distribute our upcoming feature and are evaluating a good promotional campaign.

We considered accessing one of those email databases with millions of addresses and sending a newsletter about our film with link to the website. Would this considered spamming and is therefore illegal?

Yes, that's a spam list. You need to put a "subscribe to our newsletter" link on your website.
