Need help with multi-cultural video series

Hey guys. I am putting together a multi-cultural video series that shows the lives of people from around the world and events that happen around the globe. It will be a video series with actors that will go straight to YouTube, for numerous reasons.

I just got into learning all the equipment that is needed and how much it will cost but I still have lot's to learn.

Does anyone know of any sites or posts that would show all the film equipment that is needed to get that true film look? I'm actually looking for more of the look that they did in The Sopranos. My budget for cameras is about $3000 for the body. I was looking at blackmagic cameras and they seem to be perfect for the price point and the image quality that you get.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

And what are your plans for sound? If you do not plan on retaining someone to handle production and post sound for you a basic prosumer sound kit will cost in the neighborhood of $1,200 to $1,500, and audio post gear quite a bit more.
