Need help with a super-short.

Looking to do a simple, one character short. 10 minutes tops.

The main character is this guy, Major Chimera.

The only solid trait this character has to maintain is the fact that he is MUTE.
All is fair game, the genre, style, etc. are not important. Just want something interesting and preferably mind bending.

Whoever gives me an idea I can run with will get writing credit at the end of it all.

Racked with guilt for a previous life of crime, he attempts to turn over a new leaf, so he walks into a church and has trouble confessing his sins in a coherent way that will absolve him

He's the enforcer for the leader of a gang of hoodlums(he's the only one that wears the mask). They've just broken into someone's home. An old lady is sitting watching TV. They scramble about the place trying to inspire fear when the husband comes down...BOOM shotgun blast takes one of their legs out. Our masked hero/villain, grabs the old lady as a shield. The old man argues with the guy to put her down but he can't talk so he just keeps emphasizing that he's got a knife to her throat. As the sirens roll a little sleepy eyed girl comes walking down the stairs. All our players stop to watch, the masked man watches her inquisitively migrating his look between the old man, the girl, and the impending police. Finally, unable to escalate with the killing of the old lady he pushes her to the old man who drops the gun to grab her. Masked man jumps out the window and takes off. Later on, the cops are interrogating the old lady and man a rookie comes in with a report of finding a hockey mask in the garbage. If you start the story early then just them breaking in, it'll establish the mask as a symbol rather than just a costume prop. Kind of like, his mask is his protection from what he knows only as a cruel world(he's a mute), the little girls appearance makes him see a slight glimmer of innocence, which is what the shedding of his mask could symbolize. Also, he wants to get away from the cops.

This guy wears the mask cause he is so good looking. So chicks are always hitting on hit but he can't reciprocate.

Well, I don't know how you will make that into a movie.:)

He's a mute, but not for any physical reasons. It's all psychological. But he finds that, when he hides behind the mask, not only can he communicate, but he can be very persuasive. When the mask starts getting people to commit crimes for him, he begins to think of the mask as another person, especially when the mask begins turning people to more deadly pursuits.

How you could fit that into a 10 minute, 1 person short, I don't know. Then again, I'm still VERY new to the whole script-writing thing. :)

Good luck with it!

Open with a shot of him in a chair in a clean room (military experiment/prison is what I'm thinking) with his eyes closed. Cut (maybe zoom in first) to him in a dirty old house, covered in blood. Lots of quick cuts, frantic music as he makes his way out of the house, removing obstacles. If you want to go visceral horror with it, you can have him find a key on/in the corpse of someone he finds in the house (with the implication that he killed them, the person representing his ties to society and normality). Either way, finds a key and opens the front door. A blinding white light could work here, though ideally a hell-on-earth style post-apocalyptic wasteland waits outside.

Cut back to the first scene. He opens his eyes, stands up and raises his hand. The locked door of his holding cell flies off its hinges. He starts to walk out the door, camera zooms in on his eyes and the end credits music starts to play. I'm also seeing a very comic-book style shot angling down on the opened door, inside the room has a white floor, outside a dark floor, and blood starts to flow in from the outside and pool on the white floor.

Sort of a supernatural anti-hero set-up, really.

Dude that's an awesome idea!

if you've ever seen The Crow, you could kind of slim it down and go off the same concept, only having this guy mute. minus the girl as well. and the crow.

or if that's kinda sketch, make him a vigilante who uses parkour and petty crime to accomplish good deeds, pickpocket, steal from rich give to poor, etc.

Thats also a cool idea given the nature of the character. plus I don't think parkour is used enough in hollywood, it'd be cool to see a main character with that as a main attribute. "The Silence of the Roof Runner"

haha that's punny. but i couldn't agree more. I'm currently writing a short about something like that, but using military instead of a masked guy.

Thats cool, how long though. Parkour is too amazing to only get a minute of screen time lol. When Casino Royale's construction site scene was going on, I almost didn't want it to end.

So far I'm digging this idea, and have already started some notes for it.
I'm thinking of possibly combining this idea, with the above idea involving a clean room and a post apocalyptic world on the outside....

What I'm thinking so far;
He wakes up in what used to be a clean room, now destroyed and decrepit, after an unknown amount of time. He then uses parkour and agility to navigate the ruins of the building, only to escape to an equally ruined outside world...

maybe he comes across a few mutated humans or creatures on the way through......?
