Need another excuse to watch "Pulp Fiction"?

They actually officially released The Godfather films in chronological order on VHS. I think i have that set somewhere. I dont think they should be watched that way but i was a kid when i bought them and was just looking for another excuse to buy them again i guess.

um...whats "Godfather"?

jk.
Heard lots about it and seen lots of scenes but never really wanted to see it as a whole movie..
Same with Big Lebowski (gasp!! opened a wrong can of asswooping)

Aw man!
That's just plain wrong.
What's next? PUtting the "Guernica" in order? Straightening pollock's lines of paint?

I seem to recall a chronological re-edit of Memento as well (I think that's actually on one of the dvd editions). Sort of novel, and the movie does hold up pretty well once you remove the gimmick.

Also reminds me of a video someone had cobbled together from all the flashbacks in Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel's life and times, played together as a film. It was pretty cool if you are already a fan, but I love the way they doled out bits and pieces over the years.

Meh, I thought the first Godfather was alright. But I only got halfway through the second one. Not my thing.

But, Dimitri, you've got to watch The Big Lebowski. It's one of the Cohen brothers' best films. Truly hilarious with just the right amount of wrong, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, well, that's like... your opinion man.

Just kidding. It IS one of the best. Seriously, is as hilarious as it is trippy. Simply amazing.

As soon as I mention big lebowski issue, everybody makes me watch it haha I can sit through first 30 mins, then I just get bored. Can't really get into it..

As far as godfather - I do like it for cinematography, but I'm not so big on the whole mafia/family story.

I am actually exactly right there with you. I sat through the Big Lebowski, because I think everything is worth watching at least once. Wasn't crazy about it. Chuckled a few times, but felt no desire to watch it again.

Godfather is amazing. Hands down, brilliant film in all regards. But I also don't really like mafia stories (there are exceptions...I enjoy Goodfellas a lot), so it's not something I find myself watching again. This has led me to the conclusion that it's good to seperate taste from quality. You can think something is a great film without actually liking it, and vice versa. I like some good films...I also like some crap!

Actually, I really don't need an excuse to see "Pulp" again.
I watched The Big Labowski recently. I got bored with it honestly. Don't know why. Everyone else I know loves it. Everyone has their own taste. That's the big challenge of what we do!

There's an entire site dedicated to this unique form of "copyright infringement" called www.fanedit.org

This to me is a gray area, as long as you legitimately own the DVD, then these "extended cuts" and "fan edits" really aren't much of an 'infringement' as much as they are someone doing what the director's don't want.

I saw an incredible version of TRUE ROMANCE called "Quentin Tarantino" cut. They added the deleted scenes back in, plus cut it in the NON chronological order of his original screenplay and added the unhappy alternate ending. It was an amazing and different way of watching the same movie.

I really really don't have a problem with fan edits, as long as you buy the original discs. We're in an age where you cannot stop people from modifying or editing your movie, so as long as you got paid, who cares what they do with it?

Momento has a cut for this...it's worth giving it a look if it was done right. I'm sure the original is vastly superior in tone.

They released that officially on the 2 disc DVD set if you answered some questions. The chronological version of MEMENTO is not nearly as good, but completely interesting to watch. It's emotionally less fulfilling and plot-wise, less impactful. In the proper, non-sequential version of MEMENTO, the effect is compelling because you are going through a similar experience to the protagonist. Without that device, the film is a lot less interesting or engaging.

The more I think about it, the more I'm against the entire concept. It's kind of offensive, in my opinion. It's almost like these fan-editors are saying, "Hey, you F'd up; let me fix it for you". Screw you, fan-editor! Why don't you make a damn movie?!
