watch My film is a Semi-Finalist in Ridley Scott/Youtube's filmfest!

My film "Sold" was chosen as a semi-finalist out of over 15,000 submissions for Ridley Scott's "Your Film Festival"! http://www.voteforsold.com

If my film 'Sold' is voted by the public into the top 10, I'll be flown to Venice, Italy to open the Venice International Film Festival with my film! Even more amazing, if 'Sold' wins, Scott Free Productions will award a $500,000 grant for me to make my dream movie with Ridley Scott! Please help my dreams come true and vote! http://www.voteforsold.com

Sold is about a young journalist who is inadvertently captured into a human trafficking ring while investigating the treatment of undocumented immigrants in America.

This competition is another fascinating look at how Scott Free productions has been able to use Youtube to gain more exposure for filmmakers (the first being that Life in a Day documentary).

This is the link people are using to vote:
http://www.voteforsold.com
The above link will take someone directly to the film where they can click the red "VOTE" button to the right. Voting ends on July 13th and people are allowed to vote once a day. If you like the film, please help! I can't even imagine how cool it would be to go to Venice Film Festival and open the fest with my short! If you like the film, please vote!

Congrats, just watched it, loved it, voted for it. Do you a page on Facebook for the vote, i'd be happy to push it if you have one.

Fantastic man. I loved, absolutely loved your framing. Favorite shot was at 9:01 when she gets out of the car. Everything in that frame is just perfect.

Congratulations, really!!

Woot!

Awesome work, man! I'm glad to see that the people who really worked hard and have talent got to make it to the finals.

Wow thanks guys for your nice comments!

Eraserhead, I shot it on the Canon 5D. There's a lot of great behind the scenes photos at http://www.soldfilm.com -- We ended up finding the back half of a taxi cab on rollers with removable sides and a hole in the axel for us to be able to shoot the trunk scenes. That was the biggest challenge to figure out how to do. The budget was around $15k. I found some producers through Kickstarter and for the amount needed that was left, I paid myself (basically my entire savings from the previous two years). Let's hope it was worth it! Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

We made the short to act as sort of a demo for the feature version that I already have written.

Trueindie, i appreciate the specific shot point out, i love that one too :)

Awesome. Congrats to you!

I can't watch your video at the moment (though I'm definitely intrigued by it), so I'll check it out later.

I did vote for it, though. Good luck!

It was good. A crisp look. A "trapped-in-a-trunk"-thriller and flashbacks shows how she got there. Hope you get to make it into a feature.

Just watched it. That was fantastic! It's very tense, and the two lead actresses were fantastic. Good luck in the contest!

By the way, I hope this turns into an annual contest. I'd love to take part.

Thanks Cracker Funk, glad you liked it!! I just noticed you're in Richmond (where I'm from) :)
So glad that there are talented filmmakers tearing it up back home. I didn't see anything listed on your profile, do you have a website or anything where I can see your work?
