Motion Tracking Markers

Can anyone give me any advice regarding motion tracking markers with a green screen. What color should I use for the makers? Where should I put them? How do I remove them in post effectively?

Thanks,
Paul

Ideally, a high contrast color with sharp edges is going to be the easiest to track, and give you the most accurate results.

As for removal of tracking markers in post, that's going to partially depend on the software you're using, though the principle is software agnostic, track/mask markers, and either paint them out or garbage matte them so that they become part of the alpha channel when you pull your chroma key.

Research before you place a ton of markers. Many folks who are new to 2&3d tracking will place too many markers employing a better-safe-than-sorry approach. Unfortunately, they end up with extra paint work. In many cases the geometry of your location/sets may make markers unnecessary.
