Miniture world. (timelapse)

Hi, i posted this in another thread in the cinematography section but realised it is better places here.

Basically to cut a long story short. Im wanting to make a miniture tilt and shift type video like the two listed here...

http://vimeo.com/9679622 & http://vimeo.com/15596222

The way the director of those videos did it by taking thousands of stills, now the camera ive been lent (nikon d7000) im not allowed to max out 30,000+ stills in a week, so im doing to shoot all the shots 1080p video.

How would i get that effect through post (after effects is the program im using)

Would i posterize to X amount of fps then speed up using timewarp?

yeah i used video in the end. because my uncle didnt want me taking up a good 30,000 out of his guranteed 15,000 shots on his nikon d7000!

what i had to do was soot at 1080 then the final export at 720p, because once its stabalized you get black areas around the edges.

so yeah i would of preferred to shoot stills (at 4000+x200+) would of gave me better quality.

but like i said, with limited equipment im happy with how it came out :)

Looks great! I'm obviously not aware of any limitations that you had in post, but it looks just as good as some of the ones I've seen done with stills. I think the tilt-shift look could have done with some refinements in places, but overall I really enjoyed it - it's amazing how much throwing parts of the image out of focus draws you into the rest of it. Nice work!
