Michael Reed Acting Reel

Hey all. I figured since I work on films as both cast and crew, it would be alright to post my actor's reel here.

Also you never know...there are a lot of talented folks in this community I'd love to work with. It can't hurt to put this out there. In addition you get to see a nice array of indie projects (some of which I crewed as well).

Thanks!

Michael, that was outstanding. Great acting chops.

What's the name of the film in which you're holding the sword by the campfire?

That film is SMALLTOWN. It is still in post, and that scene you saw was edited and sound designed by me, so you'll have to ignore the lack of design or color correction. I hope it doesn't stand out as poorly done...in other words, it does not reflect the final product! :)

IMO you're good actor. I looked at the short version.
What's the standard length of reel? I thought yours was a little long, I'd especially shorten that opening scene, hand held makes some people sea sick. You wouldn't want some potential director/employer vomiting all over his or her laptop. I'm also thinking that opening scene featured a lot of another actor, and he was good too. Can't you cut him out? Or diminish him somehow? Like draw a dorky mustache on him? Seriously though, Seems like you know what you're doing. Good luck sir!

lol.

I'm not the biggest fan of handheld either, but this crew knew how to do it right. It's a style choice by design and it works for the scene.

I also very much like the actor I'm acting with (John Mosetich)...the best performances are always given opposite someone as talented or better than yourself...we bring out a solid performance in each other. I'm not worried that some casting director will focus on him...that's just silly. It's my reel, and I don't think there's any question where the focus is IMO. And I honestly don't think he outshines me, or I wouldn't put it in there. I love an actor who can look me in the eye and makes me listen (ie. react) naturally...that's what I'm looking for, and that's what I got.

As far as length...3 min is a good length for a short version. Some people like a 2 min short version...I think 3 is fine.

Most of my best stuff is not out yet (as it should be typically). Once we see a premiere on them, I will replace some things with better things.

Thanks for the comments guys. Cheers.
