Link to site question?

I'm just getting acquainted with this site and I'm confused. I'd like to make a link to my site but I can't figure how to do it. I've put a banner up on my site and it will bring viewers here. But how do I get traffic the other way?

The html I used for the banner is different from the html shown for the link. Am I supposed to paste this html to my page?

Are you using the reciprocal IndieLinks.com, or just the plain 'ol regular banner from IndieTalk.com?

Thanks for your comment. What is the difference between IndieLinks and IndieTalk? I keep getting them confused.
