watch LIFE IN A DAY - Ridley Scott's Request

Hey all. If you shot footage on *the day* Ridley Scott asked you to, and sent the footage in. Here is the thread to post the vids.

Below is my submission (in three parts, due to YT's 10 min limit).

We had a great day filled with a lot to do, including an exclusive behind the scenes day on the webseries WORKING TITLE by 12 Gauge Productions, and the ZOM ROM COM production party of LTJ Films.

Bear in mind, this isn't the most fun exciting bunch of footage in the world...that's not the point. It's about whatever you were doing on *that* day. So feel free to skip around. :)

All shot on a poopy SD flip-cam and whittled majorly down with FCP.

Here are mine:

made it to the final 100 hours of footage they will edit the film from... no idea if anything at all will make it into the film, but i'm hoping.

How do you know if you made it to the 'final 100 hours?'

And congrats for that. Lewis, maybe I didn't understand the 'rules', but your footage doesn't look like 'a day in the life'...it looks like a photographer having fun. I don't mean that in a bad way...it's just totally different than what I imagined. Nice imagery nonetheless.

well, they sent me an email, letting me know, along with upload instructions to submit a full-quality version of the footage to them. plus all the release forms and stuff...

yeah... i know what you mean... and i tried to come up with some cool concept for something to shoot... but never thought of anything... so in the end i just tried to document what a day around my house was like. and it isn't "a day in the life" like the beatles song.... it's "life in a day"... to me that wasn't necessarily about just people doing stuff... my film was more just a little mood piece showing the progression of the day at my house... were you just hanging out at my house for the day... those are the things you would see and hear... that is the weather we got... stuff like that.... but yeah... i see your point... i was actually a little surprised that they chose my footage... but i'm still pretty excited about it :) i hope something from it gets in.

That’s great Lewis (Congrats).

I liked your footage, there is something different about it that I can’t really put my finger on, but that I can see as being easy to work with on a number of potential levels, which is to say if you added creepy music (and sounds) it could work well for that kind of feel, if you added bright music it could have more of a down home feel, or sad music etc. Kind of like stock footage with a lot of personality.

-Thanks-
