cinematography Letus Extreme

which camera r u going to attach it to? im guessing u want it for the shallow dof. if so, wouldnt it cost the same as buying a dslr?
but there are some valid reasons for having an adapter on a video camera as opposed to getting a still camera.
i guess, once again, it depends on wat u want to get out of it.

I am going to attatch it to JVC GYHM100. I would like to use it for documentaries. DSLR can only record about 12 min. at a time @ 1080p, plus the t2i overheats. The camcorder only has 1/4" sensors and I'm wondering how that would look with a PL mount lens.

Nice camera. This is when a 35mm adapter does make sense.. you have a multi $k investment in a camera, for another $k or so you can have great look and features.

I only have a consumer grade canon HD cam.

Iv used used my letus on a Panasonic HMC150, much more more pro the my cam, and the shots are BRILLIANT.

With the JVC that would be a nice rig. Some of the pro cameras benefit from a specially acromat, check the letus site for details, though on my cursory investigation I didnt see your camera as one that needs the special acromat.

If your going PL mount, and know why thats cool, then your out of my league. :) Your already committed to multi thousands dolor lens sets.. me, I run old canon FD lenses, $10 pawn shop specials up to my pride and joy f1.4 50mm ($60) so ....

You might consider the Letus ultimate over the extreme.. ... im posting incomplete because my satellite connection is acting up..

Ultimate/Extreme will work fine with that camera. If you have the budget to rent the PL glass then you might as well get/rent a bombing adapter.

Both are great. In PL I've only personally seen the pro35 (pstechnik) on an ex-3 - but I imagine Letus has a PL mount as well.

Either way, if you can snag the lens set then go for it.

Also, 35mm still lenses look great. Mechanically though the PL is going to make your life nicer while shooting. Can I ask what lens set you're considering?

why I suggest the ultimate over the extreme is the ability to stop DOWN.. with an extreme, or any vibrating adapter, I can only stop lenses down to about f5.6. Go to a smaller aperture and you can SEE the ground glass grain.. bad.. this can be a real pain in bright outdoor light. The spinning adapter technology in the ultimate (and again, any spinning adapter) does not have this problem. Sure, to the unitiated the whole reason you get a 35mm adapter is to be able to OPEN up your aperture and get that nice shallow DOF, but when youve spent an hour setting up the the adapter just perfectly, it sucks to have to take it off when you want a DEEP depth of field in bright light.
