Hey. I've been into making movies since childhood. Now I'm out in the city of Richmond making independent films. I'm fairly new in the professional world so I don't know how to network efficiently or anything. As of right now I'm interning at the VA Film Office and doing a few local film festivals.

Well, that's my story so far. Any tips would be great.

You're on the right track for networking volunteering at the film office should afford you opportunities for chance encounters with a decent chunk of the community. Festivals are a decent place to meet and network too. I'd also suggest getting involved in as many film shoots as you can -- the more you do, the more people you'll meet.

I've had good luck finding projects to get involved in on craigslist.. here's the Richmond link in case you need it: http://richmond.craigslist.org/

A quick look I saw a couple things listed under the crew section (under gigs on the bottom right)
