Johnny PNW makes a Grand Entrance

And what's a Grand Entrance without audio? Wait. Here's a link:

I've already posted in the Cameras forum, about adapting a ProAim matte box to work with Visual Products rails on my Aaton. It ain't pretty, but it works.

I've been dabbling in films since high school, [deleted] years ago. Started out on super-8, of course. I've done a lot of work on no-budget and student films, shot weddings on video, shot instructional and industrial videos, shot two scenes of 'the worst professionally produced film [this critic has] had the displeasure of sitting through', worked as a Script Supervisor on a film that actually got distribution, gripped, and was DP on a project that fell apart and never got finished.

I've got piles of cameras, lighting, and grip gear.

What I don't have is a project to work on. (Well, I do... But I really don't like writing; and until I finish writing it, it's not really a 'project', is it?) So I found this place and thought I'd hang out.

Hello!

So why aren't you doing something right now?
Ah, now that's a long and sordid tale...

In a nutshell: I worked for a large multinational corporation that discovered that it's cheaper to send work offshore. Half the department was laid off, and I was in the losing half. At exactly that time, I was closing on a house in Northern Washington. Kinda broke for a while. One filmmaking cohort moved to South America, and another got snagged by the Army just before his Inactive Reserve expired. So i've been without collaborators. Also, filmmaking opportunities are not as abundant up here as in L.A. Right now, I'm working in a non-film field.

I have an idea for a feature-length film made up of a series of linearly-connected stand-alone shorts. But screenwriting is not my strong suit, so I've only one completed segment. I've got all of the equipment I need. I just need to get the bloody scripts done and gather a cast and crew. I've joined a Meetup group in Seattle, so I'm hoping some connections will be made after the holidays.

That ain't no excuse. Just sayin'. ;)

That's precisely how my last disaster-piece came about.

None of us had the [insert excuse here] for a feature-length film, so we put together an anthology of short films that each of us did for the greater good.

Keep workin' at it!

Yep. If I can't find Other People's Films to work on, I'll just have to make my own, dadgummit! ;)

Hey, it worked for Jim Jarmusch! :P

I'll have a look at your link maƱana. 0445 comes pretty early in the morning, and I'm useless without my six hours of rack time!
