Is it required that you attend a film festival that you get into?

Hi. we're submitting to some film festivals that are too expensive to travel to. Is it a requirement that someone representing the film attend in order to be accepted? We want the festival credit but don't have the money to get there.

Only a few festivals (Cannes Short Corner - I think that's the right name - is the one that comes to mind) require it. But it's good to focus on festivals that you can attend if accepted: it's the way to get people to actually SEE your movie plus it's a (really) good networking opportunity.

And check if they need a DCP - most tier one festivals do. If they do and you can't afford to create one, don't submit.
