is it just me or does something look off about this music video.

Yeah the kid looks pretty goofy in that video. I think the fact his eyes are mostly closed in the beginning do to the sunlight being bright. I think they show him too much while he is singing because I feel some of the faces he makes while singing are pretty goofy looking.

The video really does not have any story to it and I think that is part of the problem. It would have been better if it was a mini love story type video. Maybe show how he meets a girl and the troubles they have and how they get back together at the end. Something like that is what my thougths were for what it should have been. At minimum who is the girl that he loves this big and how much is he willing to do to show his love for her.
 
The studio voice with the outside location are REALLY not meshing. At all.
Sound's like a man singing voiced over a a 'kid' singing.
Could be voiced over a dog or duck with CG lips for all I know.

The faces he's making, trying too hard to emote, are country cliche terrible.

There's all these people gathering for his little concert-in-the-park, yet he's sitting on his a$$ doing nothin while belting out some saggy-a$$ love ballad, pining away for babe unknown.

The camera work is nice though.
A little too much swinging around for my taste, but sometimes my AADD isn't always cooperating.
Today it's not acting up, so the incessant swinging around is annoying me.
Cameraman musta watched UNSTOPPABLE the night before storyboarding this.

I think I know what's wrong with this video, it has Scotty Mcreery in it.

He sneers and makes faces while singing songs I hate, and then the director is kind of uninspired also. Nice alexa preset 3 though.
 
I think they were trying to get that 80s look on purpose in that one^ right?

But all I can conclude from this is, American Idol blows.
