Is B&H Photo & Video reputable?

Just chiming in. I've had good experiences with both B&H and Adorama and recommend them both. And as far as I know so far...security with them is good. How many hours I've spent on both store sites just window shopping and drooling and adding to my wishlists. Both companies have sent me my orders promptly and well packed, as well.

And anecdotally, I remember seeing/hearing a story not long ago about how in the wake of Hurricane Sandy Adorama had a station outside their store for people to charge their cell phones free of charge. Ain't that a nice story?

In Ausrtalia, Kogan and DWI are also both very cheap online stores to buy electronics. Recently shaved $110 off a new GoPro, I did :)

Yeah, Kogan was my first choice until I found a refurbished 600D with 18-55 kit on B&H for $390 (including $51 postage). They seem to be the go-to for Aus simply because of the competitive pricing combined with free postage.

Who are DWI?

If you need a new PC built for you, I highly recommend cyberpowerpc.com. I've bought my last two from them, and they've been great. They also have terrific customer service.

For real, though, the fact that B&H and Adorama found this conversation is a reflection of terrific customer relations. Well done!

I have always had great experiences with B&H and Adorama. I have also learned to stay away from those too-good-to-be-true prices from a lot of the online sites that advertise amazing equipment at 1/64th the price of everybody else.

I'm not sure about 1/64th, but some of those places are reputable. Kogan, for instance, is well known in Australia and yet sells a lot of electronics that are significantly cheaper than anywhere else. The 600D, for instance, with 18-55 kit is $489 from there which is about $100-150 cheaper than anywhere else in Australia.

Then again, we tend to get screwed on imported goods. Local prices tend to be jacked up to ridiculous levels with the justification that shipping costs a lot of money. There's actually an ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) investigation into it because it's so rampant and there is such a large disparity in pricing.

For the record, I was about ten seconds away from creating a fake account for Wesley Crusher. But then I decided not to anger the Gods. *sigh
 
My experience so far with B&H has been terrible.

The camera arrived in perfect condition and early on the same day that I was told it would arrive.

This is unacceptable. I expect my low expectations from horrible experiences with online ordering to be fulfilled. Now that my expectations have been raised, I will no doubt end up ordering from somewhere else for something else and be utterly disappointed by their failure.

You have a lot to answer for, B&H!

Nope. I ordered a T3 Rebel. Which I didn't realise is different from a T3i Rebel.

Sigh.
