Every society has castes; not all are as plainly visible as in some countries, though. You're really screwed if you're born into an untouchable one in a third-world country. Everything else is relative, no matter where.

sorry I am forced to comment . I am an Indian and there is no untouchability practised now . The so called higher society which I belong are the untouchable. Our children should get the highest mark to study . I am a brahmin and my son should get 98% to get a seat or he should pay a very hefty donation of 4 lakhs while another cast can get easily with 80% . Now we are the untouchable . That is why we gp to foreign countries to get a good education .
